Connect a domain bought through BuyDomains

If you bought a domain through BuyDomains, first establish where the domain is registered and where its DNS is managed. The company that sold you a domain is not necessarily the service where you now edit its records.

Find the account that controls the domain

Check your purchase or transfer confirmation and sign in to the registrar account that now holds the domain. Confirm you can manage the intended domain and see its current nameservers.

If you cannot locate the domain or do not yet have control of it, contact your purchase representative or registrar. DNS setup in Pineapple cannot complete a domain purchase or an unfinished transfer for you.

Find the active DNS provider

The domain's nameservers identify the service responsible for its DNS records. Open that provider's DNS management interface.

Do not assume an old screenshot labelled BuyDomains matches your current account. Use the instructions for the provider actually hosting your DNS, such as Namecheap, GoDaddy, Bluehost or HostGator.

Connect the website in Pineapple

1. Select the correct Pineapple workspace and website.

2. Open the website's Settings → Domain.

3. Enter the domain, select its provider and choose Connect domain.

4. Add the required DNS records at your active DNS provider, copying the values shown in Pineapple.

5. Return to Pineapple and check the root and www connections.

You need workspace owner access and a plan with custom-domain support. Preserve your email records and add any requested ownership-verification TXT record.

When the connection succeeds, make sure the website's homepage is published and open it at the domain.

Keep registration and hosting separate

Your domain's renewal and registration remain with its registrar. Your Pineapple subscription covers the workspace's eligible website features. Changing one does not automatically cancel the other.
